Built between 1993 and 1997, the Confederation Bridge is the “fixed link” between the Canadian Mainland and Prince Edward Island. At 12.9km (8 miles) long, it traverses the entire Abegweit Passage from Cape Tormentine on New Brunswick to Borden-Carleton on P.E.I and is thus Canada’s longest bridge and even lays claim to being the longest bridge in the world to cross ice-covered water. It regularly carries 4000 people per day including many tourists, myself included! 🛠️ 🌉 🌊
As mentioned, the bridge arrives in the town of Borden-Carleton where Lone Oak Brewing was initially founded before they spread across the island.
It is therefore no surprise that they chose to honour the structure with their flagship Pilsner, Fixed Link. Brewed with P.E.I malts and hopped with Maritime hops, this German-inspired Pilsner is super crisp with a great grassy nose underscored by fresh bread and cereals.
It drinks clean and dry with slight biscuit character alongside the cereals and bread as well as a pronounced crisp bitterness in the finish that is delightfully moreish. I could knock back several of these easily! 🥖 🌱 💯

Originally from England, Mike Davis came to Quebec ten years ago to study history. During this time he fell in love with the microbreweries of Quebec, which reminded him of English pubs. Now, he holds a Ph.D in History from McGill University but works in the beer world as the Brand Ambassador for Microbrasserie 4 Origines.
